Evaluating Periodical Articles

Apply A.S.P.E.C.T. criteria

The word periodicals includes scholarly journals, popular magazines, newspapers, trade publications, and opinion journals.

Periodical articles are similar to books in that most go through a screening process by editors or publishers.

However, periodicals vary greatly in quality, with different types of periodicals having different levels of review.

IRIS 4-2 is an Information Literacy project developed with a grant from the Distance Learning Council of Washington, 2007-2008. Some content, images and activites were inspired by, and/or copied/adapted from TILT: The Texas Information Literacy Tutorial (no longer available).
