2. You must acknowledge Paraphrases and Summaries
Paraphrasing means to use your own words to express someone else's words or ideas. Merely rearranging words or substituting words is plagiarizing.
To paraphrase, you first must understand what you are reading, then be able to explain it without using the author's words.
You must acknowledge paraphrases and summaries that:
- provide background information
- present facts not commonly known
- explain various positions on your topic
