Five Types of Information You Must Acknowledge
1. You Must Acknowledge Direct Quotations
Any time you use information word-for-word from another source, you must:
- Place the entire word-for-word passage in quotation marks (even if the words articulate information that is common knowledge), and
- provide a brief reference to the source of the word-for-word passage, and
- provide a full citation to the source at the end of the paper
Direct Quotation means using the original text exactly as written, word-for-word.
